About Fabagoo

“If you don’t know, you can’t go”

What started out as a simple list of events for their family and friends to consider attending, has become, for Bay Area residents Steve Hansen and his daughter Lacey, an ever-evolving events calendar now for the benefit of thousands of monthly Bay Area visitors looking for things to do to go have fun.

Says Steve: “This event sharing has become obsessive for us. What started out as a two person operation (my daughter and me) with 100 events, has grown often to over 2000 events for which now requires a programmer and a designer.”

Their efforts have made it extremely easy for anyone to find things to do that they may not have heard about otherwise.  As Steve explains, “There are so many events/festivals and other things going on in this great Bay Area (fabagoo now includes (120) Bay Area cities) that are not often shared beyond the boundaries of the area that the event is located in.”  Fabagoo categorizes all events into (49) categories which include a wide variety of interest and hobby categories, such as: “Home and Garden” “Antiques”, “Festivals”, “Children” and many more.  Visitors can search by date, city, area, “most popular events”, “recently added events”, and if you are looking for a cheap date, there is even a search available for “free events.” In addition, each event listing includes all details of the event: event description, venue address, date(s), website, admission cost, and even a map.

What is so unique about fabagoo is the opportunity to create your own personal “My fabagoo,” by where the visitor will receive an extensive list in seconds only including events that fit their pre-selected personal interests.  These events can then be stored in their own file with the opportunity for them to request email reminders for each event they may desire to attend.   What would take any single person likely hundreds of hours to gather, is now handled by (8) paid fabagoo event editors (called “fabagooers”) that search the internet, newspapers, radio, highway billboards etc. to gather this very comprehensive continuing list of Bay Area events. Also, because the list only includes current upcoming events, visitors will never be frustrated running into dead links, or expired events.

And if you’re wondering where the name “fabagoo” came from, it has a very personal and humble origin shares Steve: “When Lacey was around 18 months old, we were driving around looking at Christmas lights.  As we would pass a well done lighting display, she would get excited and mutter a word we finally figured out as “fabagoo” (fob-uh-goo).  We understood this “new” word to signify something as awesome or beautiful and continued to use the “word” for over twenty years within our family when something stood out as wonderful.  When we were trying to come up with a name for our new website, we considered more traditional names, like “Bay Area stuff to do” or “Events in the Bay Area.”  In a spark of inspiration, we both came back to this word that would later become trademarked for our site “fabagoo.”

Fabagoo has two very fitting tag lines: “Go have fun” and “if you don’t know, you can’t go”

How to best take advantage of fabagoo

1) We recommend that you immediately create "My fabagoo". This will allow you to use all advanced search opportunities and to create your own category "My Interests".  Here, you can pre select only those categories that actually interest you, filtering out unwanted events. For instance, you may not want to view any Sporting or Children's interests.  After creating My fabagoo, when you later visit the site, you will now have a very personalized "My Interests" filter in the interest dropdown. We promise (cross our hearts) to never share your (required to create a log in) email address with others.  The nominal $2.00 per month subcription cost includes a 100% MONEY BACK GUARANTEE, if you are ever disatisfied with the value fabagoo provides to you.

2) Free tickets to events and special offers> From time to time fabagoo receives free tickets and special offers from events and our partners which we will make available only to registered "My fabagoo" users. You may opt out at any time.

3) Visit fabagoo at least one time per week.  As events and things to do are constantly being posted by our editors, the site content changes day to day. Typically new event adds are posted atleast five days out, so if you don't want to miss anything, you should check the site often. We say here at fabagoo often> "If you don't know, you can't go!"...so check back often so you don't miss something cool!

The effort to locate and place this many events and things to do onto one website is HUGE. Don't let this valuable resource be wasted.  Please share fabagoo with all your family, friends, co-workers, the mail person, the pizza delivery person, your hair cutter and the store cashier.  No other event calendar has the interests of the visitor so in mind. You are doing a great service and favor to anyone you share the site with. In essence, so that they can "Go Have Fun"!
