About this event

The exhibit will transform the floor into a variegated geography that manifests the frontier rhetoric characteristic of Silicon Valley. A technoscape of another sort, the work will transpose the legendary abstract qualities typically ascribed to Silicon Valley--intense competition, struggle, rugged individualism, and dogged genius, all operating at a hyperbolic scale--into a physical terrain. As viewers move through the work, each and every body will be confronted by a slippery and unsure terrain, engaged in a muscular liberation of labor usually constrained to the brain.

Neither an interior landscape nor one of the exterior, belonging exclusively neither to sculpture nor architecture, this work will transform the normally stable space of the Gallery's white box into a shifting and shimmering landscape of volume and texture. Mysterious in its composition and overwhelming in its scale, the work will deconstruct the confident swagger of Silicon Valley's inhabitants into a step-by-step negotiation with gravity and space in means appropriate to the Valley and to life in the 21st century.
